Thank you for writing this article! I've been struggling to share many of these same thoughts about remote work but keep holding back my tongue because there are many people who like it and it feels like I'm raining down on their parade and almost criticizing them for liking remote work. I mean, I'm not but people get really defensive about it sometimes. Remote work is really beneficial for those who live very far away from the office, those with a lack of childcare services, and people in toxic workplaces. But not everyone is in that situation and is it fair to let other types of people suffer if they thrive better in an office environment?

I don't think we can go back to 2019 at this point. But remote work doesn't work for everyone just like how the office doesn't work for everyone either. Companies will have to figure out how they want to work and what kind of employees they want to attract and employees will have to determine what they really want in a workplace (which doesn't have to be static either! Life circumstances change all the time).
